Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Twins topped the Los Angeles Angels 4-2 in the rubber match of their weekend series at Target Field on Sunday, taking two of three from Los Angeles heading into the All-Star break.
Taj Bradley earned the win, striking out six over seven innings while allowing two runs on six hits and two walks. Andrew Morris worked the final two innings for the save, striking out two without allowing a run.
The Angels struck first on a solo home run in the second inning, but Minnesota answered with a three-run third to take the lead for good. Los Angeles pulled within a run on another solo shot in the seventh before the Twins tacked on an insurance run in the eighth to close it out at 4-2.
Trevor Larnach and Ryan Jeffers each drove in two runs for Minnesota. Larnach also homered, and Jeffers doubled. Luke Keaschall finished with two hits and a run scored, and Ryan Kreidler added a hit and a run.
Jose Soriano took the loss for the Angels, allowing three runs on five hits over five innings.
Minnesota has won back-to-back games to close out the series. The Twins return from the All-Star break Friday, July 17th, at 7:05 p.m., when they open a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
