Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Twins topped the Cleveland Guardians 3-1 Tuesday night at Target Field, opening a three-game series with their third straight win.
Right-hander Taj Bradley was dominant on the mound, striking out 10 batters over seven innings while allowing just three hits and one earned run to earn the victory. Bradley needed only 101 pitches to work through seven frames, keeping Cleveland’s lineup off balance most of the night.
The bullpen finished the job from there. Andrew Morris worked a scoreless eighth inning, and Taylor Rogers and Yoendrys Gómez combined to close out the ninth, with Gómez credited for the save.
Minnesota’s offense backed Bradley with 10 hits on the night. The Twins broke through in the second inning, plating two runs, and added an insurance run in the seventh.
Kody Clemens went 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored, while Josh Bell also went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Brooks Lee and Austin Martin each drove in a run, and Ryan Kreidler added a double and a run scored.
Cleveland starter Joey Cantillo took the loss despite not allowing an earned run over five innings — both of Minnesota’s second-inning runs scored following a Guardians error. Cantillo struck out seven and walked three. Rhys Hoskins accounted for Cleveland’s lone run with a solo home run, and Chase DeLauter collected two of the Guardians’ three hits.
The Twins and Guardians continue their series tonight at 6:40 p.m. at Target Field.
