Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)-
If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to serve on the Detroit Lakes School Board, an upcoming information session is designed to answer your questions.
Detroit Lakes Public Schools will host a Future Candidate Question and Answer session on Wednesday, July 8, beginning at 5:30 pm in the Roosevelt Elementary School cafeteria.
Superintendent Mark Jenson says the meeting is intended for anyone considering a run for the school board, as well as those who simply want to learn more about the role.
Jenson says the school board will continue addressing important issues in the coming years, including new state legislative mandates, enrollment challenges, and exploring new programs and opportunities for students.
He encourages anyone who has ever thought, “Maybe I should run,” to attend the July 8 session. He says it’s an opportunity to learn not only what is involved in running for office, but also what to expect if elected.
Those who cannot attend are encouraged to contact the superintendent’s office with their questions.
