Hawley, MN – Hawley Public Schools is proud to announce the completion of its multi-phase, district-wide facilities improvement project and invites the community to celebrate this milestone at a special Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday, June 25, from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

This event marks the culmination of a comprehensive effort to enhance learning environments, improve safety and efficiency, and prepare the district to meet the needs of current and future students.

“This project represents years of thoughtful planning and strong community support,” said Superintendent Phil Jensen. “We are proud of what has been accomplished and excited to welcome the community in to see the spaces designed to prepare our students for the opportunities ahead.”

With all phases now complete, Hawley Public Schools has successfully delivered a series of improvements and new facilities across the district. At the elementary school, upgrades have created a more welcoming and functional environment for early learners, including expanded classroom space, updated finishes, and enhanced areas for music and cafeteria use. These improvements provide students with spaces designed to support engagement, creativity, and day-to-day learning.

At the high school, renovations and additions have transformed both academic and shared spaces. Highlights include an expanded commons area for collaboration, a remodeled auditorium, updated library spaces, and a new weight room that supports both student programs and community use. Improvements to entrances and office areas have also strengthened safety and accessibility.

A major component of the project includes the completion of a new middle school, providing dedicated, modern learning spaces for grades 5-8. The facility includes specialized classrooms, flexible instructional areas, and expanded gymnasium space designed to support both academics and activities.

The district has also completed important site and infrastructure improvements. The reconstructed track provides an updated and more accessible space for physical education and athletic events, including new event areas and ADA enhancements. In addition, the new transportation center enhances daily operations with a heated, drive-through bus garage, improved maintenance capabilities, and safer traffic flow separated from student areas.

Together, these investments represent a unified vision for the future of Hawley Public Schools – one that supports students across all grade levels while strengthening connections to the community. They also reflect the district’s commitment to preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.

Hawley Public Schools invites students, families, staff, and community members to attend the June 25 celebration. The event will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony and brief remarks from district leadership, school board members, and project partners. Following the ceremony, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in guided tours showcasing the completed facilities across the district. Guests can explore firsthand the spaces that will support learning, activities, and community use for years to come.

“This is truly a community achievement,” Jensen said. “These facilities were made possible through the support and vision of our residents, and we’re excited to share them with the Hawley community that made them possible.”
