Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – Two bodies were found in different Fargo/Moorhead area bodies of water since Saturday.

On Saturday, May 20, Moorhead police were alerted to deceased man floating in the Red River, near Gooseberry Park.

An autopsy performed by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office in St. Paul identified the man as 53-year-old Harold Anderson of Moorhead.

The medical examiner’s office also said their preliminary report listed the cause of death as a fresh water drowning and they did not find any evidence significant injury or trauma.

Anderson had been reported as missing in Moorhead and was last seen on April 23.

On Monday, Fargo police officers responded to a report deceased man floating in a retention pond on the 3500 block of Main Avenue, east of Interstate 29.

Police said their initial investigation indicated the man had been in the pond for an undetermined amount of time and the body was taken to the University of North Dakota’s Forensic Pathology Department for an autopsy.

The name of the deceased man has not been publicly released, but Fargo police said they have no reason to believe there is an active threat to the public at this time.

The case remains under an active investigation.
