Minnewaska, Minn (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes Lakers girls golf team finished four strokes behind Elk River for second place at the Minnewaska Lakers Invitational on Friday, May 5th at Minnewaska Golf Club.
The Lakers shot a combined 344 on Friday, led by a third-place finish by Hanna Knoop (82). Laura Syltie finished in tenth place overall with an 86, Tatum Gathridge and Sydney Miller tied for 12th place with 88s, Maddie McDougal finished 15th overall with a 90, Sophie Christianson tied for 16th with a 91, Becca Hunter placed 20th overall with a 96, and Jaycie Slipper finished 22nd with a 99 as all eight Lakers competing broke 100.
Laker girls golf will compete in five meets in the next eight days: Monday, May 8th at Headwaters Golf Course in Park Rapids, Thursday, May 11th at St. Cloud Country Club, then back to Headwaters on Friday, May 12th for the sub-section meet, then will travel to The Vintage at Staples on Saturday, May 13th. The Mid-State Conference Meet is at Headwaters in Park Rapids on Monday, May 15th.
