MINNEAPOLIS, MN (KDLM) – Another sad turn of events with the DNR’s Eagle Cam occurred on Sunday morning. The nest has fallen out of the tree, killing the week-old eaglet living inside.
“We wish we weren’t writing this post, but the EagleCam nest fell out of the tree early this morning,” reads a Sunday morning announcement from the DNR.
Viewers of the Eagle Cam were able to watch the eaglet emerge from it’s egg last Sunday, March 26th. This came after a massive snowstorm buried the nest — and the two eggs within — in February, with one of the eggs, unfortunately, breaking a few weeks later.
The two adult eagles do not appear to have been harmed Sunday morning.
DNR officials are asking people not to visit the Eagle Cam location.
