HAWLEY (KDLM) – Former Hawley Mayor Jim Joy defeated John Hest in the State House District 4B race, Tuesday.
The seat had been held by DFL Rep. Paul Marquart for years who did not run for reelection.
Joy served as a reserve police officer for the Hawley and owns and operates a gas and convenience store in the Community.
Joy spoke with KDLM news after his win, Tuesday, “I’m excited for my next adventure, I’ve been the Hawley Mayor for the last six years and I’m excited for the next seat I get to sit in and represent rural Minnesota.”
Before becoming the Mayor, Joy was on the Hawley City Council for two years.
