DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – David Meyer will become Becker County District 2 Commissioner after defeating incumbent Ben Grimsley, Tuesday.
Grimsley has served as Commissioner on the Becker County Board since 2012, but received criticism after a tensions grew high with County employees that led to a strike being narrowly averted with county employees represented by Teamsters Local 320 and the resignation of two-thirds of the county’s 6-person IT Department and a period when there were at least twenty unfilled county positions prompting the board to adopt a work from home policy to attract and retain employees.
“I’m really excited to represent the citizens of Becker County,” Meyer said Tuesday evening, “What I’ve been saying the whole time I’ve been running for this position is that we need to fix the issues between the leadership and the employees.”
Meyer is the co-owner of the Sandbar II in Detroit Lakes and has been a popular educator in the area for more than 25 years.
