WASHINGTON D.C. (KDLM) – The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill this week to rename the post office in Vergas in honor of Jon Glawe.

H.R. 5952, a bill that honors the life of Jon Glawe, a Vergas, Minnesota mail carrier of 36 years who passed away in 2016 was introduced in November 2021 by Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach.

“This bill appropriately names the post office after Jon to honor his service to his neighbors and the local area. In a letter his family noted that since the bills introduction, the outpouring of support from those that live in the Vergas area has been overwhelming,” said Fischbach.

Glawe son-in-law, Eric, and grandchildren, EJ, Spencer, and Thatcher, were able to watch the vote from the gallery, Wednesday in Washington D.C.
