Pelican Rapids High School Alumni Come Together to Raise Money for Child Fighting Cancer

PELICAN RAPIDS (KDLM) – A fundraiser will be held, Friday in Pelican Rapids for a 12 year-old who is fighting Stage IV Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Emma Melby, whose family is from Pelican Rapids was diagnosed with cancer in December, 2021 after battling swelling in her jaw. After her diagnoses, Emma was not been able to return to her 7th-grade year. Much of her days are now spent at home or at the hospital. Emma’s treatment plan will span over two years time.

Family and friends are hosting a free-will offering dinner and online auction at the Muddy Moose on Friday from 4-8 p.m. “Emma’s mom and I graduated from High School together, we went to Pelican Rapids High School and some of us classmates are trying to raise some money for Emma’s medical bills,” said Rayna Benson one of the event organizers.

All proceeds from the event will help the family of Emma, in addition Lend A Hand, an organization that gives financial help for families with medical bills will boost donations 20% up to $5,000.
