Laker Boys Golf Finishes Third In First Home Meet of 2022

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes boys golf team finally hosted their first meet of the season, welcoming 10 other schools to the Detroit County Club for the EDC Invite on Tuesday morning.

The Lakers entered two teams in the meet with the team of Aiden Lunde, Lawsen Justesen, Connor Nelson, Ben Hines, Brock Burhans, Tommy Suckert, Owen Chiodo and Brody Bowers finished in third place with a score of 313, and Tyler Stensgard, Jack Syltie, Nick Tobkin, Noah Meyer, Logan Schons, and Carter Whitworth finishing in sixth place with a 321.

Grand Forks Red River and Fargo Davies tied for first place with a score of 310.

Fargo Shanley sophomore Zach Skarperud and senior Jake Skarperud tied for medalist honors with 73s.

Lunde tied for fifth place overall with a score of 76 on the Par 71 course. Justesen tied for 10th with a 77. Nelson shot a 79 and Stensgard, Syltie and Tobkin each carded 80s.

Laker Golf will be in Fargo this Friday at Edgewood Golf Course.
