Twins Officially Postpone Opening Day to Friday

(KDLM) – Twins fans will have to wait an extra day to see their team take the field in 2022. The Twins announced earlier today that Thursday’s season opener at Target Field has been officially postponed due to weather.

Temps are projected to be in the low 40s with a rain/snow mix and 35 mph winds at Target Field during the scheduled game time.

“The game, and all of the Twins’ Opening Day festivities, will now occur on Friday’s previously-scheduled off-day, following the same timeline: Breakfast on the Plaza from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m., gates opening at 1:00 p.m. and first pitch between the Twins and Mariners at 3:10 p.m.” the Twins said.

The season opener moves from Thursday to Friday with the same start time (3:10) and the same starting pitchers: the Twins will send rookie Joe Ryan to the mound to face reigning AL Cy Young winner Robbie Ray, who signed with Seattle in the offseason.

Tickets for Thursday’s game will be honored on Friday. However, if you bought the tickets through a secondary ticket reseller, you can only use them for the rescheduled opener on Friday. Otherwise, you can swap them for another Twins home game this season. Fans with tickets to Thursday’s game need to exchange their tickets within 24 hours of Friday’s first pitch.

Friday’s weather forecast calls for temps in the low 40s with 30 mph wind gusts, but there is no precipitation expected.
