Soldiers to March Down Washington Ave. in Detroit Lakes to Collect Food for Food Pantry

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Soldiers with the Minnesota Army National Guard will be marching down Washington Avenue in Detroit Lakes, Saturday collecting non-perishable food items for the Becker County Food Pantry.

The event, Operation Hunger Resolve will begin at 1 p.m. as soldiers march from Veteran’s Memorial Park up Washington Ave. on their way to the Becker County Food Pantry. “They’ll ask people to fill their rucksacks with non-perishable food items and the guard members will tote them over to the food pantry for distribution to families in need,” said Brad Carlson, Becker County Food Pantry Executive Director.

The public is invited to line Washington Avenue and hand their non-perishable food items to Soldiers as they march. Additionally, the Detroit Lakes Armory will have a gift wrapped drop box located in the entryway for anyone who would like to drop items off prior to December 11.
