Perham Post Office may be Renamed to Honor Perham Man Killed in Helicopter Crash

ST. PAUL (KDLM) – The post office in Perham may soon be renamed after a National Guardsman who died in a helicopter crash in 2019.

Senators Amy Kobuchar and Tina Smith are sponsoring legislation to rename post offices in the hometowns of three guardsmen who were killed in the crash.

Charles P. Nord, James A. Rogers Jr. and Kort M. Plantenberg were killed on Dec. 5, 2019, after the Blackhawk helicopter they were riding in experienced engine failure.

The legislation aims to rename the post offices in Perham, Winstad and Avon, where the guardsmen were from.

Companion legislation has also been introduced in the House of Representatives by Minnesota Reps. Michelle Fischbach and Tom Emmer.
