Barnesville, MN (KDLM) – The Barnesville Trojans put together a homecoming performance that the town won’t soon forget, beating Detroit Lakes 49-14 in Barnesville on Friday night.
Detroit Lakes jumped out to an early 14-6 lead, courtesy of two Mason Carrier touchdowns. After Carrier’s 37-yard touchdown gave the Lakers a 14-6 lead, the game was delayed for about 35-minutes due to a lightning delay at 7:25 pm. Once the game resumed at 8:00, Barnesville was unstoppable, scoring 43 unanswered points while tallying over 400 yards of total offense.
Senior running back Cameron Heng scored five total touchdowns as the Trojans amassed 355 yards on the ground with hard-to-navigate Power-I, misdirection packages.
The Lakers fall to 3-3 on the season. They’ll play at Park Rapids next Friday night. At 4-2, Barnesville tightens its grip on Section 8AA. They will host Staples-Motley next week.
