DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – A furnace failure in February and water damage at the Becker County Museum has forced staff to move the museums most fragile paper and textile items.
On Saturday, March 20 volunteers including local Scouts spent more than 6 hours moving thousands of tax record books and military uniforms from the museum to the old jail in the Becker County Sheriff’s Office.
The County will house the items until the museum can preserve them in a more permanent manner.
The museum is months away from breaking ground on a $6.4 million, 30,000-square-foot facility with around $500,000 yet to be raised.
