(KDLM) – Since 1983, if you’ve watched a Minnesota Twins game on TV you’ve heard Minnesota’s own Dick Bremer describing the action on the field. Whether the Twins are competing deep into October or are rebuilding for the next season, Bremer has been the constant for players and fans.

With nearly 40 seasons of Twins baseball under his belt comes a myriad of stories, from plays on the field, to personalities off of it…all of them detailed in Bremer’s book, ‘Game Used: My Life In Stitches With The Minnesota Twins.”

“It was intended to be a light-hearted look at the first 60 years of the team and my involvement, first as a fan growing up in Dumont. I followed the team religiously through my adolescence. And, a wonder of wonders, I have been able to make a career through a closer association with the Twins.”

Bremer released his book in March of 2020 during what would have been Opening Week of the 2020 major league baseball season, but the season was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And with the world slowly opening back up, Bremer has had the opportunity to do a number of public book signings, including one on Saturday, August 21st in his hometown of Dumont.

Bremer’s book details his younger years in Dumont (including the story of a baseball meeting a stained-glass window in his father’s church…), playing high school baseball at Staples High School, and sheds some light about his “Duke In The Dark” days, working for the Leighton Broadcasting at 104.7 KCLD in St. Cloud after graduating from St. Cloud State.

“I’ve got a couple of copies of the book laying around, and I always like to read the first four chapters that are from my childhood in Dumont. There are 85 people that live there now. Kindergarten through eighth grade there were a total of seven students with one teacher. I was particularly happy to include those in the book.”

Bremer will be signing copies of his book at Dumont Park off of Highway 75 on August 21st from 3-6 pm. Bremer will have limited copies of his book available for purchase.
