DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Extreme heat and drought continue to fuel dangerous fire conditions in the Lakes Area.
Last week Becker county was added to a growing list of counties under additional burning restrictions. Detroit Lakes Fire Chief, Ryan Swanson says it only takes one spark to cause a fire, “It’s basically getting to the point that it’s so dry that one spark will start the ground on fire. You are responsible for your actions taken and if a fire happens it is going to be on you, unfortunately.”
This year, more than 1,600 wildfires have burned 35,000-plus acres in Minnesota.
