LAKE PARK, MN (KDLM) – In a statement on Thursday morning, the Lake Park-Audubon School District announced that they will recommend, but not require, face coverings and masks for the beginning of the 2021-22 academic year.
“At this time, and until further direction from the state, we are only recommending the wearing of masks. Not requiring.” said Dr. Tim Godfrey, Superintendent of LPA Schools. “Please know we are getting very excited for the return of your children to school and are looking forward to a successful year.”
LPA has released guidelines for the upcoming school year, including plans and protocols for guests and visitors on campus, workplace and building ventilation, hygiene and cleaning protocols, as well as communication and training practices. Protocols will be updated as new guidance is provided by the CDC and MDH as it relates to COVID-19.
Classrooms will be configured with maximum allowable space between students (without disrupting the learning experience), drinking fountains will be limited, traffic flow and spacing will be implemented in building hallways, and students will be encouraged to wash and sanitize their hands before and after using playground equipment.
Employees, students, and visitors who are not fully vaccinated are encouraged to wear masks.
