DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes School District continues to work towards bringing students back into classrooms for in-person learning.
The School District will begin in-person learning for elementary students and hybrid learning for middle and high school students beginning, Tuesday, Jan 19. The move is quicker than Governor Walz’ state guidance, but was approved by the District’s Regional COVID-19 Support Team.
“There was a potential of a spike after Thanksgiving, that never showed, a potential of a spike after Christmas and we’re not seeing it…we’re ready to rock and roll and excited to get our kids back,” Detroit Lakes School District Superintendent, Mark Jenson, said.
The case count within Becker County is now below 5% which means that community spread is not happening. Jenson says he feels confident that the number will continue to drop and the District will be able to slowly begin bringing more students back into classrooms.
