Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Kirill Kaprizov scored twice and the Minnesota Wild rallied from an early deficit to beat the Boston Bruins 4-1 Saturday night in their home opener at Grand Casino Arena.
Boston struck first when Tanner Jeannot scored less than two minutes into the game. The Wild didn’t get much going in the first period, but they took over from there with four straight goals.
Kaprizov tied it on a power play six minutes into the second period, scoring on a one-timer off a pass from Maxim Shabanov. Later in the period, Minnesota got nearly two minutes with a two-man advantage, and Quinn Hughes scored with one second left on it to give the Wild a 2-1 lead.
Jared Spurgeon made it 3-1 early in the third when his shot deflected in off a Boston player’s skate. Kaprizov sealed it with an empty-net goal in the final minute.
Goaltender Jesper Wallstedt made 26 saves for Minnesota, which scored on two of its three power plays and kept Boston off the board on all of its chances with the man advantage.
Kaprizov now has three goals this season and has scored in five straight games against the Bruins, with 11 goals in eight career games against Boston.
The win moves the Wild to 2-0 after a 3-1 victory Thursday in Nashville. Minnesota opens a three-game road trip Tuesday night in Buffalo.
