Loons Head to Portland Looking to Stretch Unbeaten Run

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Minnesota United will try to make it three straight without a loss when it visits the Portland Timbers on Saturday night.

The Loons have taken points in back to back matches. They routed the San Jose Earthquakes 5-1 on the road August 22nd, then gave up a late equalizer in a 3-3 draw with Orlando City at home on August 29th.

Minnesota sits ninth in the Western Conference at 7-7-8, good for 29 points. The margin is thin. Real Salt Lake and Portland are both a single point back at 28, with Seattle two behind that.

Portland comes in at 8-10-4. The Timbers have won more matches than Minnesota this season but have also lost 10, while the Loons have drawn eight times, more than any other club in the West.

Kickoff at Providence Park is set for 9:30 p.m. Central.
