Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Vikings have bolstered the interior of their offensive line ahead of the team’s only home preseason game.
Minnesota announced the signing of guard Joshua Gray on Wednesday. To clear a roster spot, the Vikings terminated the contract of vested veteran defensive lineman Eric Johnson II, who is free to sign elsewhere. Gray, 26, originally signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State following the 2025 draft and spent the season on Atlanta’s practice squad.
He landed with the Carolina Panthers on a reserve/future deal in January and was waived by the club earlier this week. Gray took 24 snaps at right guard in Carolina’s preseason game against Buffalo last Saturday, and Vikings beat reporters say the team views him as a center-guard. The California native played his entire college career at Oregon State from 2019 to 2024, where he started a school-record 56 games, including 44 in a row from 2020 through 2023. He logged 916 snaps as a redshirt senior, more than any other player on the Beavers roster.
Gray is listed at 6-foot-5 and 299 pounds and will compete for a roster spot behind starters Donovan Jackson and Will Fries.
The Vikings and Baltimore Ravens hold their final joint practice today in Eagan. The two teams meet Saturday at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota’s only home preseason game of the year.
