Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)-
Construction is underway on the future home of the White Earth Boys & Girls Club in Callaway.
The new facility is being built on Dakota Street, where the club’s playground and outdoor basketball court were completed last year.
Carol Thompson, CEO of Strategic and Program Development, says the new building is expected to be completed by the end of July 2027. It will include an indoor half-court basketball area, youth room, mental health office, team room, arts and crafts room and teaching kitchen.
The building will also serve as a community center, with a grilling deck and a large inflatable water attraction planned for summer activities.
The project has been years in the planning, and the organization has worked hard to make sure the facility reflects what the community wants and needs.
The Callaway Boys & Girls Club currently operates out of the Callaway Community Center and serves youth ages 5 to 18 after school and during the summer.
Thompson says it will be exciting to see the long planned project come to life and, most importantly, see the kids enjoying the new space.
