Frazee Community Development says Wannigan Regional Park has reached a major milestone, transforming a long-time community vision into a growing regional destination.
During an interview on TV3’s Spotlight on Frazee, President Polly Andersen said years of community support and state funding have helped make the park a reality.
Recent improvements include a new two-mile paved trail for walkers, cyclists and families, as well as Jacob EverEar, one of the six giant trolls in the Detroit Lakes Troll Hunt. The park also offers access to the Otter Tail River for canoeing and kayaking and connects to the North Country National Scenic Trail.
Andersen says the next phase of development is scheduled for 2027 and 2028 and includes a campground, playground, river overlooks, restroom facilities and a new entrance road with city water and sewer.
She credited volunteers, local businesses, lawmakers and community members for helping turn the vision for Wannigan Regional Park into reality.
