The City of Detroit Lakes is accepting candidate filings for this fall’s municipal election.
Anyone interested in running for city office may file an affidavit of candidacy with the City Clerk at City Hall now through 5 pm Tuesday, July 28.
A five-dollar filing fee is required.
Offices on the November 3 ballot include one four-year council seat in each of the city’s three wards, along with two four-year alderman-at-large positions.
Candidates elected this November will begin their terms on the first Tuesday in January 2027.
