Cleanup and recovery efforts continue across the areas of Becker County impacted by the July 6 tornado, with county officials thanking residents, volunteers, and community partners for their ongoing support.
The Becker County Assessor’s Office is reviewing damaged properties. Homeowners whose property sustained damage may qualify for a property tax reduction through the Local Option Disaster Relief Abatement Program. Property owners in the affected areas are encouraged to complete an application and return it to the Becker County Assessor’s Office.
Residents affected by the tornado who need financial assistance can apply through the Becker County Disaster Fund, managed by Mahube-Otwa. Donations to support tornado recovery efforts can be made at Bell Bank in Detroit Lakes.
Team Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster response organization, continues to provide free chainsaw work and vegetative debris removal for homeowners. Their mission is to support communities in need and help build resilience through volunteer service.
Officials say the community’s generosity and volunteer efforts have played a vital role in helping families begin the recovery process.
