West Lake Drive Project Update

Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)-

West Lake Drive in Detroit Lakes will reopen from Washington Avenue to Minnesota Avenue by the end of the day Wednesday and remain open through the Fourth of July weekend. The City Beach will also be open and accessible, although some small fenced-off sections will remain closed. Visitors are asked to stay out of those areas.

Construction resumes Monday, July 6, when West Lake Drive will close from Legion Road to Rossman Avenue. The closure is expected to last through August. Drivers should follow the posted detour using County Road 6, Highway 59 and Willow Street.

The city says the public boat launch remains closed until that phase of the project is complete. Residents are also reminded to stay out of construction zones for their safety and to help keep the project on schedule.
