New York Mills, Perham Punch Tickets to State Baseball Tournament

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM)- Two more central Minnesota baseball teams have punched their tickets to the state tournament.

New York Mills captured the Section 5A championship with a 5-4 win over Sebeka, holding on in a tight one-run game to advance. In Section 8AA, Perham earned its trip to state with a 4-1 victory over East Grand Forks.

Both the Eagles and the Yellowjackets now turn their attention to the Minnesota State High School League state tournament, where they will look to keep their seasons alive against the best teams in their respective classes.

The tournament gets underway on June 11th, with quarterfinal and semifinal rounds running through June 12th before the championship series at Target Field on June 15th.

The Class A quarterfinals and semifinals will be played at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, while Class AA games take place at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud.
