(KNSI) – This weekend is Take a Kid Fishing Weekend in Minnesota.
Children 15 and younger don’t need a license to fish in Minnesota, but from Friday to Sunday, adults without a license can fish as long as they take a child with them. The DNR says children and adults must abide by fishing seasons and other regulations.
“Time spent fishing with kids tends to be full of smiles, fun and connection,” said Benji Kohn, DNR volunteer mentor program coordinator. “Fishing can teach kids patience, build their confidence and turn into a great family bonding experience.”
The DNR has a “Learn to fish” webpage for those that could use some tips.
