Emergency Purchase of Used Ladder Truck for Detroit Lakes Fire Department will Cost More than Half a Million Dollars

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The city of Detroit Lakes will pay up to $550,000 for a used ladder truck for the Detroit Lakes Fire department.

The City Council approved the emergency purchase on Tuesday after hearing that their current truck had become unreliable and would be too difficult to repair.

“Unfortunately our ladder truck has got some problems and we’re concerned with safety…we’re going to purchase a used, but newer truck,” said Mayor Matt Brenk.

The city will likely fund the purchase through internal financing, hoping to alleviate the burden on local tax payers.
