Bell’s Two Homers Lead Twins Past Astros in Series Opener

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Twins opened a three-game series with the Houston Astros Monday night with a 6-3 win at Target Field.

Designated hitter Josh Bell powered the Minnesota offense, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Second baseman Luke Keaschall added a two-run hit.

The Twins built a 6-0 lead by the sixth inning before Houston scored all three of its runs in the seventh. Right-hander Eric Orze picked up the win in relief, his second of the season, and Taylor Rogers earned the save.

Minnesota improves to 22-26 and remains in third place in the American League Central.

Right-hander Zebby Matthews is scheduled to take the mound for the Twins in game two of the series Tuesday night. First pitch from Target Field is set for 6:40 p.m.
