Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild are a win away from their first playoff series victory in over a decade following a 4-2 win over the Dallas Stars in Game Five at American Airlines Center.
Matt Boldy scored the go-ahead goal in the second period to give Minnesota a lead they would not relinquish. The Wild then pulled away in the third, with Michael McCarron and superstar Kirill Kaprizov finding the back of the net to put the game out of reach. Mats Zuccarello also lit the lamp in the victory.
The win pushes Minnesota ahead 3-2 in the best-of-seven first-round series and puts the Wild on the brink of advancing to the second round for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
Game Six is set for tomorrow at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, with puck drop at 6:30 p.m. The Wild will look to close out the Stars in front of the home crowd.
