The Detroit Lakes Public Utilities is beginning spring hydrant flushing throughout the city.
This routine maintenance helps keep the water distribution system in good condition and improves water quality by clearing iron and other mineral buildup from water mains.
During the flushing process, residents may notice temporary discoloration in their water. If this occurs, you’re advised to run your tap for several minutes until the water clears.
There may also be brief drops in water pressure while this process is taking place.
