New York Mills, MN – A New York Mills man has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for selling meth to a confidential informant in a controlled buy.

In February, a jury found 57-year-old Jeffery Robert Kampsula guilty of both first- and third-degree sale of drugs. On Monday, he received a sentence of 85 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud.

Otter Tail County prosecutors say that on August 7th, 2024, the Minnesota West Central Drug and Violent Crime Task Force received information from an informant that they could purchase a controlled substance from Kampsula.

Task Force agents met with the informant and provided the cash to purchase 28 grams of methamphetamine and a wireless recording device for agents to listen in on the controlled buy. After the informant left Kampsula’s home, they provided the agents with two baggies of a white, crystalline substance that tested positive for meth. When tested, the baggies weighed about 26.5 grams.
