Twins Salvage Series Finale Behind Bradley, Three Home Runs

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Twins avoided a series sweep Thursday, shutting down the Kansas City Royals 5-1 at Kauffman Stadium behind a dominant pitching performance and a trio of home runs.

Taj Bradley was sharp on the mound, holding Kansas City to five hits over six scoreless innings to anchor the victory. The Twins’ offense did the rest, getting long balls from Matt Wallner, Kody Clemens, and Josh Bell to power Minnesota to its first win after a three-game losing streak.

The victory gives the Twins a series split and improves their record to 2-4 on the young season. It was a much-needed confidence boost for a club that had struggled to find its footing through the early weeks of the schedule.

Off the field, Minnesota bolstered its bullpen Wednesday, acquiring reliever Garrett Acton from the Miami Marlins in a trade.

The Twins now return home to Target Field, where they open a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays this afternoon. Right-hander Bailey Ober gets the ball for Minnesota’s home opener, with first pitch scheduled for 3:10 p.m. CDT.
