Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Joel Eriksson Ek delivered one of the most dramatic moments of the Minnesota Wild’s season Thursday night, burying the game-winning goal with just five seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Wild to a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Florida Panthers at Amerant Bank Arena.

The stunning finish capped a hard-fought battle between two playoff-caliber teams, with Eriksson Ek’s clutch strike giving Minnesota the two points it needed in a tight Central Division race.

Ryan Hartman and Marcus Foligno also found the back of the net for the Wild, who showed plenty of resilience after the Panthers tied the game and threatened to send the contest to overtime.

With the win, Minnesota moves to 94 points on the season, holding down third place in the Central Division. The Wild will look to carry the momentum into their next contest, as they hit the road again tomorrow to face the Boston Bruins.
