Essentia Health St. Mary’s-Detroit Lakes has announced the addition of a new provider to its orthopedic team.
Kristine Stompro, a certified physician assistant, will now practice orthopedic surgery. Stompro has already spent the past eight years working as a physician assistant at Essentia Health Urgent Care-Detroit Lakes.
Stompro says she has long been drawn to orthopedics because of its hands-on nature and the ability to evaluate injuries through physical examination, including range-of-motion and strength testing.
Before attending physician assistant school, she worked in athletic training, treating sports injuries and helping patients through rehabilitation.
She received her physician assistant education from Pacific University in Hillsboro, Oregon, and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Stompro says, “I’ve always enjoyed managing sports injuries and rehabilitation and am looking forward to starting in this new role.”
