Otters Fall Short in 8AAA Section Title Game

The Fergus Falls Otters were unable to find their offensive rhythm Thursday night in Sartell, falling behind 28-20 at halftime before dropping the Section 8AAA Boys’ Basketball Championship game to the Sartell Sabres, 72-48.

Fergus Falls finishes the season at 12-17. Sartell improves to 21-8 and advances to represent Section 8AAA at the Class AAA State Tournament.

The Sabres put the game away early in the second half, scoring 12 of the first 15 points to push their lead to 40-23. Sartell’s advantage grew to as many as 27 points, at 69-42, before the final buzzer.

Jacob Jenc led Fergus Falls with 18 points and six rebounds. For Sartell, senior Maddox Lewis paced the Sabres with 17 points, while Bennett Bommersbach contributed 15 and Parker Smith added 12.

Thursday’s loss marked the final game in an Otter uniform for seniors Micah Johnson, Cam Wiederich, Isaac Maack, and Micaiah Abramson.
