Gophers Upset No. 10 Michigan State 76-73 at Williams Arena

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) -The Minnesota Gophers pulled off a statement victory Wednesday night, knocking off the 10th-ranked Michigan State Spartans 76-73 at Williams Arena.

Minnesota controlled the first half, building a commanding 32-21 lead at the break. The Gophers maintained their advantage through much of the second half, though Michigan State mounted a late rally that fell just short as the home team held on for the three-point win.

Jaylen Crocker-Johnson paced the Gophers with a game-high 22 points, while Cade Tyson added 17 points in the winning effort.

The victory improves Minnesota’s record to 11-12 overall and 4-8 in Big Ten play. The Gophers will look to build on the upset when they host Maryland on Sunday at Williams Arena.

Judge rules against Gull Lake owner over helicopter use

Twin Cities CEO Doug Schieffer has been fighting with the city of East Gull Lake over whether he can take off, land and store his helicopter on his property. The city says that under its zoning ordinances, those activities constitute an "airport" and aren't permitted in residential areas.
