A Frazee man is facing felony and misdemeanor assault charges following a December altercation that left one woman with a fractured cheekbone, according to court documents filed in Becker County District Court.

Michael Allen Willette, 33, of Frazee, is charged with third-degree assault resulting in substantial bodily harm, a felony, and fifth-degree assault, a misdemeanor. The charges stem from an incident reported on December 15, 2025, at an apartment complex in Frazee.

According to the criminal complaint, Frazee Police was dispatched to the scene around 5:13 p.m. after receiving a report of a fight. Officers identified Willette and two adult female victims as being involved in the incident.

Willette told police that an argument began after he slammed a car door, leading to a confrontation in which he claimed he was attacked and struck with a cup. However, statements from the victims and security video reviewed by police presented a different account, according to the complaint.

Court records stated; one victim told officers she had given Willette a ride home from work after he had been fired. She said Willette became angry after slamming and kicking her car door, then pushed her to the ground. The complaint states Willette later grabbed her in the apartment hallway, slammed her head against a wall, and punched her several times.

Police reported observing visible injuries to the woman’s face, including swelling and redness. Security footage from inside the apartment building allegedly shows Willette pushing both women, being struck with a plastic mug, and then holding one victim while punching her multiple times with a closed fist.

Documents say that the victim later informed police that she suffered a fractured left cheekbone as a result of the assault. She also told officers that Willette grabbed her hair and slammed her face against the wall in an area not covered by the security camera, according to the complaint.

The second victim told police she was pushed to the ground while attempting to get help during the incident.

Willette faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine on the felony charge. A warrant was requested by prosecutors, citing concerns about preventing further harm, court records show.

Willette had his first court appearance Wednesday morning.
