Astera Health, which serves Wadena, Todd, and Otter Tail counties, has completed its 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment. The process included input from local residents, community organizations, schools, law enforcement, and public health agencies, with more than 1,800 people taking part in surveys. The assessment also used public health reports, internal hospital data, and state and national health statistics.
From that information, three key health priorities were identified: high blood pressure, obesity, and substance use disorder. Ongoing focus areas will continue to include mental health, access to care, and family safety.
Astera Health is working with public health departments, schools, and local organizations to address these needs, and hosts Community Health Forums twice each year, in June and December.
Chief Operating Officer Shelly Gompf says, “By working together, we can create a healthier future for everyone who calls this region home. Astera Health remains committed to improving the health and well-being of all people in our communities.” The full assessment is available online at asterahealth.org.
