
Detroit Lakes, MN – First responders in Otter Tail County were called to a destructive house fire in rural Detroit Lakes Sunday afternoon.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and fire crews from the Pelican Rapids and Vergas fire departments responded to the fire off of County Highway 20 around 1:30 p.m. It was reported that all of the occupants were out of the home at the time of the call. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the home was fully engulfed in flames.
The reporter of the incident said that he and his girlfriend had left her mother’s home about twenty minutes earlier. When he returned to the residence, he said he found the home filled with smoke, and there were flames in the kitchen area. Deputies say the fire spread quickly, and it appeared that the home was a total loss, but no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
