Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Minnesota Twins star outfielder Byron Buxton will make his World Baseball Classic debut this spring after being added to Team USA’s roster.
The announcement came yesterday, marking a significant milestone for the talented center fielder who has long been considered one of baseball’s premier defensive players.
Buxton comes into the tournament riding a strong 2025 season with the Twins, where he posted a .264 batting average while launching 35 home runs and driving in 83 runs. The performance showcased both his power potential and increased durability, making him a valuable addition to the USA roster.
This will be Buxton’s first appearance in the World Baseball Classic, the premier international baseball tournament that brings together the world’s top players to compete for their countries. The tournament provides a unique opportunity for players to represent their nations on a global stage during the sport’s preseason.
Known for his elite speed, defensive prowess, and game-changing ability, Buxton brings a dynamic element to Team USA’s outfield. His combination of power at the plate and impact in center field makes him one of the more versatile players on the roster.
The World Baseball Classic is scheduled to begin this spring, with Team USA looking to reclaim the title. Additional roster details and tournament schedules will be announced in the coming weeks.
