A 19-year-old man is dead following an early-morning shooting in Frazee.

According to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 2:38 a.m. Saturday, December 20, after receiving a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a residence in the 700 block of West Ash Avenue. While deputies were en route, authorities received reports that shots had been fired and that one person may have been wounded. Four suspects were reported to have fled the scene in a black SUV.

When deputies arrived, they located a 19-year-old, Bryson Andrew May, of Frazee, suffering from a gunshot wound. Life-saving measures were performed at the scene before May was transported to Essentia–St. Mary’s Hospital. He was later pronounced deceased.

A short time later, an Otter Tail County deputy located the suspect vehicle north of Perham. Four individuals believed to be connected to the incident were detained.

As of Sunday, two subjects remain in custody in connection with the homicide.  Arthur Deshun Campbell, 21, of New York Mills, is being held in the Becker County Jail, and a 16-year-old male is being held in juvenile detention.  Both are awaiting formal charges.

Authorities say the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The investigation remains active. Assisting the Becker County Sheriff’s Office are the Frazee Police Department, Frazee Rescue, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, and Essentia–St. Mary’s EMS.
