(KFGO) Detroit Lakes, MN — An investigation is underway into a fire that heavily damaged a home southeast of Detroit Lakes.
Fire chief Mike Hanson says the call to Brookridge Lane came in shortly before three Monday afternoon. Hanson says the attached garage of the split-level house was engulfed in flames when crews got there.
The fire spread to the attic and lower floors. He says there was also significant water and smoke damage. No one was home when the fire broke out.
One of the two dogs inside died. Hanson says Detroit Lakes fire crews were assisted by the Frazee and Audubon Fire Departments.
A deputy state fire marshal is helping determine the cause of the fire.
