Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – Minnesota Twins centerfielder Byron Buxton has been named the American League Silver Slugger Award winner for a center fielder, marking the first time the dynamic player has earned the prestigious offensive honor in his career.
The 31-year-old All-Star enjoyed a remarkable 2025 campaign, posting a .264 batting average while launching 35 home runs and driving in 83 runs. Buxton also showcased his elite speed on the basepaths, swiping 24 bases throughout the season.
The Silver Slugger Award, presented annually by Louisville Slugger, recognizes the best offensive performers at each position in both the American and National Leagues. Winners are selected through a combination of votes from Major League Baseball managers and coaches.
