Wild Fall to Sharks in Overtime, Losing Streak Hits Three

Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM)- The Minnesota Wild’s struggles continued Sunday night as they dropped a heartbreaking 6-5 overtime decision to the San Jose Sharks at Grand Casino Arena, extending their losing streak to three games.

Joel Eriksson Ek appeared to have salvaged a point for Minnesota when he buried the equalizer with just over two minutes remaining in regulation, silencing what had been a resilient Sharks squad. But the comeback bid ultimately fell short in the extra frame.

Zeev Buium, Ryan Hartman, Marco Rossi, and Marcus Johansson also found the back of the net for the Wild in a high-scoring affair that saw both teams trade goals throughout the evening. Despite the offensive firepower, Minnesota couldn’t secure the two points in a game they desperately needed.

The loss drops the Wild to seventh place in the Central Division with just eight points, a concerning position for a team with playoff aspirations. The three-game skid has put pressure on the squad to find answers quickly as they navigate a challenging early-season stretch.

Minnesota will look to right the ship when they return home to host the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night. Puck drop is scheduled for tomorrow evening as the Wild aim to snap their losing streak in front of their home crowd.
The Jets matchup represents a crucial opportunity for Minnesota to regain momentum and climb back into the divisional race before their struggles snowball further.
