Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM)- The Minnesota Twins dropped the rubber match of their three-game series against the New York Yankees on Wednesday night, falling 10-5 at Target Field in a game that slipped away during a disastrous fourth inning.
The contest remained competitive through the first three frames, with both teams locked in a 2-2 tie. However, the Yankees broke the game open in the top of the fourth inning, plating five runs to take command and effectively put the game out of reach.
Despite the lopsided final score, the Twins showed some offensive fight. Infielder Brooks Lee provided a bright spot in the losing effort, driving in two runs to pace Minnesota’s attack. However, it wasn’t nearly enough to overcome the Yankees’ explosive offensive outburst.
The loss was pinned on pitcher Taj Bradley, who struggled through four innings of work. Bradley surrendered seven runs on eight hits, marking his eighth defeat of the season and continuing what has been a challenging campaign for the right-hander.
The Twins will look to bounce back when they return to Target Field on Thursday night to open a new series against the Cleveland Guardians. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
